About this coffee

At Finca Soledad, every step of the process is carried out with the utmost care and a deep respect for nature. Every lot is unique—an expression of its moment in time. It reflects the dedication of the pickers, the delicate balance of microorganisms in the soil, and the influence of the weather.

Only the ripest coffee cherries, measuring 22–23° Brix, were carefully hand-picked for this lot. After harvest, the cherries are depulped, washed, and slowly dried for 60 days under carefully controlled climate conditions.

For transport, the green coffee is vacuum-sealed. Until roasting, it is stored – like all of our coffees – in our climate-controlled green coffee humidor, preserving maximum freshness, complexity, and aroma.

ORIGIN INFO

The Farm

Finca Soledad is nestled on a picturesque mountainside overlooking the lush Intag Valley, where the Intag River winds through the landscape. In 2010, Pepe purchased the four-hectare property in search of a simpler life and a deeper connection with the land—a decision that would shape the future of the farm.
Over time, he discovered a passion for coffee and dedicated himself to producing exceptional specialty coffee. Although the region is renowned for its breathtaking biodiversity, much of the surrounding forest had been cleared in the past. Together with his team, Pepe has been working to restore the native ecosystem, planting around 25,000 trees to date. Little by little, the farm is returning to the thriving forest it once was.
The journey has not been without challenges. Building a sustainable coffee farm required patience, resilience, and years of learning. Today, Finca Soledad has become a place where people and nature flourish together.
When asked what makes his farm so special, Pepe simply says, "This is my life. This is where I find peace."
Perhaps that sense of place is reflected in every cup. Where nature, time, and dedication come together, coffees of remarkable elegance, depth, and character can emerge.
Today, Finca Soledad is primarily planted with Typica Mejorado and Sidra, alongside smaller lots of Geisha, Caturra, and Castillo.
